Subfemtosecond pulses in the multicascade stimulated Raman scattering

چکیده
We explore recently predicted multifrequency 2p solitons in multicascade stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) that was mode locked by the dynamics of population at a Raman quantum transition; we show that these solitons are eigensolitons of a general solitary-wave solution. Soliton components at each frequency are bright pulses of the same (Lorentzian) shape, in contrast to the familiar bright–dark soliton pair in regular SRS and to 1ycosh regular 2p solitons. Coherent interference of these components gives rise to a train of well-resolved subfemtosecond pulses. From an observation viewpoint the simplest SRS 2p solitons are so-called bright–bright solitons in noncascade SRS with either two (laser 1 Stokes) or three (e.g., laser 1 Stokes 1 anti-Stokes) components. 1996 Optical Society of America

High-order stimulated Raman scattering in a highly transient regime driven by a pair of ultrashort pulses.
We demonstrate efficient generation of high-order anti-Stokes Raman sidebands in a highly transient regime, using a pair of approximately 100-fs laser pulses tuned to Raman resonance with vibrational transitions in methane or hydrogen. The use of this technique looks promising for efficient subfemtosecond pulse generation.
متن کاملSubfemtosecond Pulse Generation by Molecular Modulation
We suggest a technique for producing subfemtosecond pulses of radiation. The technique is based on using electromagnetically induced transparency to produce a strongly driven molecular coherence. This coherence results in a Raman spectrum with Bessel function amplitudes and phases corresponding to a frequency modulated signal, thereby allowing compression by the group velocity dispersion of the...
متن کاملSelf-phase modulation and optical pulse compression influenced by stimulated Raman scattering in fibers
We have investigated experimentally the influence of stimulated Raman scattering, under conditions of pulse walkoff, on the propagation of mode-locked 1.06-,um pulses in single-mode, polarization-preserving fibers and on their subsequent pulse compression. Intense stimulated Raman scattering preferentially depletes (and steepens) the leading edge of 1.0 -,4m pump pulses and clamps the pump puls...
متن کاملGENERATION OF FREQUENCY SHIFTED PICOSECOND PULSES WITH LOW TEMPORAL JITTER H.J. POLLAND and W. ZINTH
Transient stimulated Raman scattering is used for the generation of a frequency shifted picosecond light pulse; part of this Raman shifted pulse is subsequently coherently scattered at a material excitation of a second Raman cell. Starting with the second harmonic pulse (tp = 4 ps) of a mode-locked Nd : glass laser system, both the stimulated and the coherently produced pulses have durations of...
متن کاملUnified description of ultrafast stimulated Raman scattering in optical fibers
Coupled nonlinear equations that describe the nonlinear process of stimulated Raman scattering in optical fibers are derived. These equations account in a unified manner for the Raman amplification, the Stokes generation, the induced self-frequency shift, and the interpulse stimulated Raman-scattering-induced crossfrequency shift. The equations reduce to a well-known form for relatively wide pi...
